Patient Access Network Foundation : New Online Portal

The Patient Access Network Foundation is known for their prolific work in facilitating access to medical treatments for patients with chronic or life-threatening illness. In a survey of people enrolled for assistance with Patient Access Network, most said that PAN assistance helped them in several ways :

  • Decreased stress level,
  • Increased ability to cover medical bills,
  • Improved health, and
  • Ability to begin or continue employment or education.

In coherence with their objectives, PAN has now launched a new online patient portal that expedites its financial assistance application process and allows for real-time determination of eligible patients with critical and chronic illnesses.

PAN President and CEO Daniel Klein was quoted as :  “The PAN Foundation is committed to finding ways to ease patients’ financial burdens so that they can focus on improving their health and quality of life. Part of that commitment is to make the application process as user-friendly and accessible as possible so that patients get the critical treatment they need, when they need it.”

The new online Patient Portal covers nearly 60 disease-specific patient assistance programs, including cancer, chronic illnesses and rare diseases. Qualifying patients will be eligible to receive financial aid ranging from $500 to $23,000 per year depending on the diagnosis to help cover the out-of-pocket costs associated with their specialty medications for their illness. To qualify, patients must have some form of insurance that covers the medication they are seeking assistance for, must reside and receive treatment in the United States and its territories, and must have a household income at or below 500% of the Federal Poverty Level ($78,650 for a family of two).

PAN Foundation claims to have helped more than 484,000 under-insured patients with over $880 million dollars in co-payment assistance since 2004. With the successful launch of this online portal, the patients  no longer have to choose between their medications and keeping a roof over their head.
